Search beyond a language name

A locale tag can include a language, script and region. Search for a name such as Arabic, a region such as Japan, a script such as Traditional, or a tag such as zh-Hant. The catalog uses English display names from the official CLDR 48.2 release. It includes the release’s full available-locale list, not every possible language, dialect or BCP 47 tag.

What the examples mean

Choose a locale, number, date and currency. For example, the same numeric amount can display different grouping separators in English and German. Currency choice changes formatting only; no exchange-rate conversion or price calculation takes place. Dates are formatted in UTC so the entered day does not shift with your device’s time zone. A locale’s default calendar may differ from the Gregorian input date.

The browser’s Intl.NumberFormat and Intl.DateTimeFormat generate examples. Their underlying data version may differ from the pinned catalog. The resolved locale, numbering system and calendar are shown, and unavailable locales produce an explicit message instead of an unlabeled fallback. Catalog presence does not establish browser support, translation coverage or linguistic correctness.
