TypeMay / Studio notes

A little help. Back to your words.

Practical help for text cleanup, Unicode inspection, font loading, private exports and recovering your TypeMay work.

Start with a reversible change

  1. Open the text cleaner and paste a short paragraph.
  2. Compare “Your original” with “The preview.” The highlight marks exactly what changes.
  3. Choose Apply changes when the result is right. Choose Undo to restore the prior text and settings.
  4. Download a project or explicitly save a named workspace before closing the tab to continue later.

On a phone, “Adjust text settings” opens the cleanup and language controls. Use the three numbered tabs to clean text, inspect Unicode or compare fonts. Our multilingual handoff guide walks through a complete example.

Recovering work and unexpected changes

Undo restores up to 20 explicit workspace actions in the open tab, including an applied cleanup, clear or import. Ordinary typing uses the browser’s own text undo. Reloading removes that history. There is no server backup. Open a saved TypeMay project to restore its original text, cleanup settings, language and direction; font files must be opened again.

If lines merge incorrectly, undo and select “Keep as they are.” Addresses, poetry, code and lists often need their line breaks. If Arabic or mixed text looks wrong, select Automatic or Right to left and inspect the actual characters. Joiners and directional marks are preserved by default.

Presets and saved workspaces

Open “Presets & saved workspaces” below the editor. Choose a built-in preset or name your current settings and choose Save settings as preset. Presets contain no workspace text. Use Rename or Delete to manage saved items; Undo last delete recovers the most recent deletion while this tab stays open.

To keep text, enter a workspace name and choose Save workspace on this device. After reopening the site, choose that saved item and Restore workspace. Saving is always explicit; ordinary typing never updates a saved copy. A save with an existing name is rejected instead of replacing it. To revise a saved copy, save under a new name, then delete the old item. The library holds up to 30 presets, 20 workspaces and 1,000,000 UTF-16 units of text, subject to browser storage availability.

Export selected project keeps the existing v1 project format. Export complete library includes saved text; Export presets contains only names and settings. Import a library JSON file below 5 MB, review the item counts, then choose Save imported items on this device. Imports merge with the current library and number duplicate names. Cancel leaves saved data unchanged. There is no sync, account or automatic restoration. If browser storage is full, blocked or unsupported, export a project instead. Do not clear site data before backing up the items you need.

Clean multiple local files

The batch text cleaner opens up to 25 UTF-8 .txt files, with limits of 700 KB and 100,000 UTF-16 units per file, and 10 MB total. Choose transformations or a saved preset, select each file to review original/result and warnings, then download one result or a ZIP of valid results. Invalid encoding, binary controls and unsupported files are rejected visibly and excluded. Empty text files are valid and clearly labeled. Your original files are never overwritten. Batch files stay in tab memory and are not saved to the library.

Copy, downloads and print

If clipboard permission is unavailable, TypeMay selects the preview. Press ⌘/Ctrl+C to copy it manually. If a download does not appear, check your browser’s Downloads list and permission settings. The app cannot confirm whether your browser saved a file.

The typeset proof is a self-contained HTML document with the generated TypeMay logo and four licensed bundled fonts. Open it in a browser, then use Print or Save as PDF. Turn off optional browser headers and footers. Paper size and pagination are controlled by your browser, so inspect the result before sharing. Plain text, safe HTML and project JSON are alternate formats. Local fonts are never embedded in these exports.

Fonts, empty results and file limits

Text accepts at most 100,000 UTF-16 units. Import accepts UTF-8 .txt or TypeMay .json files below 700 KB. A font must be a decodable TTF, OTF, WOFF or WOFF2 file, at most 10 MB; six local fonts can be open per tab. An error leaves your current text available.

A font can render some characters with a fallback. Test the exact script and ask a fluent reader to review shaping. For Unicode lookup, try a precise code point such as U+200B; algorithmic ranges are labeled rather than expanded into individual names. If a reference fails to load, save your work before reloading.

Keyboard and accessibility

Use Tab to move through controls. In the tool tabs, use Left/Right arrows, Home and End. Apply changes with ⌘/Ctrl+Enter and undo a workspace action with ⌘/Ctrl+Shift+Z. Reduced-motion styling and visible keyboard focus are included. This version has not completed a screen-reader or physical-device audit.

Contact and privacy questions

For support, privacy questions or a correction, contact TypeMay. Describe the tool and steps using a short, invented example. Include document contents only if you deliberately choose to share them.

For data handling details, read the privacy page. There is no upload-based support form, and the tools do not transmit your workspace contents.
