Same words. A different feeling.

Compare the exact same copy in two fonts. Adjust size and leading together, or open a local font file to see it in context.

The small details

Test the words you actually need

A short alphabet sample rarely represents an entire project. Paste headings, paragraph text, numerals, punctuation and the actual scripts you intend to publish. Both comparison panels follow the preview text so you can clean the copy once and inspect it in context.

Open a font without uploading it

Use “Add a local font” to choose TTF, OTF, WOFF or WOFF2. The browser loads the font from memory; TypeMay does not send it to a server. Files are limited to 10 MB each and six per tab. Reloading clears them. Check the font’s license before publishing, embedding or redistributing it.

Rendering is evidence, not a guarantee

Browsers can silently substitute another font for missing glyphs. A visible character does not prove that the chosen font contains it. Glyph coverage does not establish linguistic correctness, proper shaping or licensing rights. Always review complex scripts with a fluent reader in the final publishing environment.

What this tester does and does not do

TypeMay compares rendering, size and line height. It does not identify fonts from an image or parse every OpenType feature. For detailed font-file metadata and feature exploration, try FontDrop or Wakamai Fondue.

Exports contain your cleaned text. The typeset proof embeds bundled OFL fonts. Safe HTML uses system fonts. Neither embeds your local font file. The bundled font licenses and sources remain available.
